Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx recently opened up about bandmate Vince Neil’s remarkable recovery from a stroke, praising the singer’s determination in returning to the stage, as reported by USA Today.

Sixx reflected on Neil’s challenging journey back to performing after the stroke the singer experienced in late 2024. The bassist expressed admiration for his bandmate’s perseverance through the difficult recovery process.

“I can’t imagine what Vince went through, and to not know if I could ever do what I love again. And I think that freaked him out the hardest,” Sixx said. “I didn’t know, really, anything about a stroke. I thought a stroke was something else, and when it happened to one of us, the family, and then you start learning more about it, you’re like: ‘My God.'”

Sixx emphasized the extensive effort Neil put into his recovery. He highlighted how many others might not have persevered through such challenges.

“He worked his ass off. Most people would’ve quit,” he continued. “It’s a lot of work to go from you’re basically done to on stage and rocking the house. It might even be good for fans to hear that and if there’s any cautionary stuff you have to do.”

Neil’s health scare marked a significant turning point for both the singer and the legendary rock band. The incident highlighted the challenges that aging musicians face while maintaining their careers.

Neil later confirmed the health incident in early 2025. He revealed that he had spent months in intensive rehabilitation working to regain his strength and mobility. The recovery process required extensive physical therapy and speech therapy sessions to help restore his vocal abilities and stage presence.

The stroke occurred during a particularly active period for Mötley Crüe. The health crisis forced the band to temporarily adjust their touring schedule. Neil’s commitment to recovery became evident as he worked with medical professionals and vocal coaches to ensure he could return to performing at his previous level.

Neil successfully made his return to the stage with Mötley Crüe during the band’s 2025 live performances. His comeback demonstrated that his months of rehabilitation had paid off. His comeback performances showed he was able to deliver the high-energy shows that fans expected from the iconic frontman.

The experience has brought the band members closer together. Sixx noted how the health crisis helped them appreciate their time together and the importance of supporting each other through difficult periods. Neil’s successful return to performing demonstrates his commitment to both his craft and his fans despite facing significant health obstacles.
