Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx recently praised British heavy metal band Saxon in a post on X.
Sixx spoke candidly about Saxon’s unwavering commitment to their sound. He highlighted the band’s refusal to chase trends or compromise their identity over the years.
“You know who has always stood their ground and still sounds tough as nails? Saxon,” he said. “No chasing trends. No compromising. Just killer songs, killer riffs, and pure heavy metal. Respect.”
Saxon’s reputation for consistency and authenticity has earned them broad respect within the rock and metal community. That reputation was built over five decades of relentless output and an unshakeable commitment to heavy metal.
Saxon formed in Barnsley, England, in 1975. They rose to prominence as one of the leading forces of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, helping define a movement that shaped the sound of hard rock and metal for generations.
Their commercial peak came in the 1980s. The band landed eight UK Top 40 albums, including four that cracked the Top 10 and two that reached the Top 5. It was a run of chart success that cemented their status as one of Britain’s most important metal acts of the era.
