Nikki Sixx recently revealed what it would take for a new Mötley Crüe documentary to happen.

Speaking to Spin, Sixx said, “You’ve got to be willing to be honest. It’s not about ‘the dirt.’ It’s not about drugs or relationships or some of the stuff that we’ve put ourselves through or been through. The band is really about the music. Then you can build on it from there.”

A potential documentary would follow the 2019 biographical film ‘The Dirt,’ which was released on Netflix. The movie, directed by Jeff Tremaine, focused on the band’s early years and their rise to fame based on the book ‘The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band’ by Mötley Crüe and Neil Strauss. It covered the band’s wild lifestyle, personal struggles, and their journey to success.

In April 2024, the band dropped their brand new single ‘Dogs of War’ — their first release in five years and the first featuring guitarist John 5. Later that year, on October 4, they put out a new EP titled ‘Cancelled.’

Vince Neil also told Billboard that more music could come by the end of 2024 or in 2025, although it might just be a few songs rather than a full album. Tommy Lee said that the band prefers releasing music that captures their current state rather than working on a traditional album.
