Kerry King recently addressed the possibility of a new Slayer studio album during an episode of the ‘Talk Louder’ podcast.
“I can 99.9 percent give you a ‘no’ on that one because I have a new outlet to present music to the fans,” he said, referring to his solo band. “And I just put these guys [in my solo band] together. I’m not gonna abandon them.”
King released his first solo album, ‘From Hell I Rise,’ on May 17, 2024, through Reigning Phoenix Music. He wrote all the songs for the record, which features drummer Paul Bostaph, guitarist Phil Demmel, bassist Kyle Sanders, and vocalist Mark Osegueda.
Shortly before the project arrived and five years after their farewell, Slayer announced their return from retirement for performances at Aftershock, Riot Fest, and Louder Than Life. The lineup included King, Tom Araya, Gary Holt, and Paul Bostaph.
Slayer played two reunion shows in 2024, first at Riot Fest in Chicago on September 22 and then at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento on October 10. They were also scheduled to perform at Louder Than Life on September 27, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky, but their set was canceled due to severe weather.
The band will return to the festival in 2025, taking place from September 18 to 21 at the Highland Festival Grounds in Louisville. Additionally, they will perform at Black Sabbath’s final concert on July 5, 2025, at Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
