Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins recently sparked speculation about potentially joining Pearl Jam after sharing a birthday post for Eddie Vedder on Instagram.

The post celebrating Vedder’s birthday has ignited rumors among Pearl Jam fans about Perkins possibly replacing Matt Cameron, who left the band a couple of months ago.

“Happy birthday, Eddie,” Perkins wrote in the caption of his photo with Eddie Vedder.

The post prompted immediate speculation from Pearl Jam fans in the comments section.

“Omg are you gonna replace Matt?? As much as that can be possible,” one Pearl Jam fan commented on the post.

“Second Pearl Jam-related post in less than a couple weeks, huh….I want to believe,” another fan said about Stephen’s post.

“Stephen Perkins needs to be the next Pearl Jam drummer. Please!” another fan commented.

The birthday tribute has fueled ongoing speculation about Pearl Jam’s drummer position following Cameron’s departure from the band.

The timing of Perkins’ social media activity comes during a period of significant change for the veteran drummer and his own band.

Blabbermouth reported that Perkins, alongside Dave Navarro and Eric Avery, recently announced they had “come together one last time to resolve our differences” with singer Perry Farrell after his onstage altercation with Navarro in September 2024.

The incident led to Jane’s Addiction canceling their reunion tour and officially breaking up. Alternative Nation noted that more than a year has passed since Perry Farrell threw a punch at guitarist Dave Navarro during a Boston show. Jane’s Addiction has officially broken up.

Jane’s Addiction’s future remains uncertain following the band’s dissolution. Perkins may be exploring new musical opportunities. The drummer’s recent Pearl Jam-related social media posts have only intensified fan speculation about a potential collaboration.

The connection between Perkins and Pearl Jam members extends beyond social media interactions. Both bands emerged from the alternative rock scene and have maintained relationships within the music community over the decades.
