Cardiac arrest led to emergency services being called to the location. This tragic event marks the end of an era for one of rock music’s most influential figures.

Sam Rivers served as the bassist and co-founder of Limp Bizkit. Wikipedia notes that he founded the band in 1994 alongside frontman Fred Durst. Rivers was 48 years old at the time of his death on October 18, 2025, leaving behind nearly three decades of musical contributions to the nu-metal genre.

Rivers was under medical care for a serious illness at his home when the cardiac arrest occurred, Lambgoat reported. The classification of his death as “attended” by deputies indicates that he had been receiving care for a life-threatening condition expected to lead to death within a short period.

His bandmates mourned the loss deeply. Blabbermouth documented their eulogy, in which they described Rivers as a “once-in-a-lifetime kind of human” and a “true legend of legends.” This reflects the profound impact he had on those who worked alongside him throughout his career.

Rivers’ contributions to Limp Bizkit helped define the nu-metal sound of the 1990s and 2000s. His work made him an integral part of rock music history. His passing represents a significant loss to the music industry and to the countless fans who grew up with the band’s iconic sound.
