“Next Blondie album should be around last quarter this year,” Stein said.

He addressed the fan’s question about Burke’s contribution and clarified the drummer’s role in the project.

“Clem played the whole thing,” he continued. “The tour, I don’t know.”

The announcement confirms that Burke recorded his parts for the album before his passing. His final contributions to the band will be featured on the upcoming release.

This upcoming album represents a significant milestone for the band. The band has faced various challenges in recent years while maintaining their creative output.

Channel X94 reported that the album is being produced by Grammy-winner John Congleton. He is known for his work with artists like St. Vincent and Phoebe Bridgers. This collaboration marks a notable choice for the band as they work on what will be Burke’s final recorded contributions.

The band’s recent touring history has been marked by health-related challenges that have affected their lineup. Wikipedia noted that guitarist Chris Stein missed the band’s 2022 UK tour because of a heart condition. Bassist Leigh Foxx was sidelined by injury during the same period.

The band brought in notable replacements to maintain their touring schedule during these absences. Hello Rayo revealed that Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols filled in for the missing members. He has also contributed to the recording of the new album.

The involvement of established musicians like Matlock demonstrates the respect and collaborative spirit that continues to surround Blondie’s work. The band navigates personnel changes and health challenges while preparing to honor Burke’s legacy through this final recorded project.
