Neil Young Says ‘The Old Days Are Gone’ As He Complains About ‘Concerts’

Neil Young‘s official website recently posted a message from the Canadian rocker who not-so-subtly complained how the good old days were gone and touring wasn’t as fun anymore.

Young has a complex history when it comes to shows, even previously announcing that he wouldn’t tour or take the stage for live shows unless there were sustainable elements in venues or festivals. The rocker often advocates for nature, never holding back from fighting against climate change with whatever he’s capable of.

However, his recent complaints aren’t about climate change or lack of sustainability on tours but about the pricey tickets sold by Ticketmaster and other online platforms. The singer a bit grumpily opened up about how the good old days no longer existed, and all ticket-selling platforms tried to do was profit off artists through false bits of information, leading fans to accuse acts for the expensive fees.

Neil’s words on the controversy followed:

“It’s over. The old days are gone. I get letters blaming me for $3,000.00 tickets for a benefit I am doing. That money does not go to me or the benefit. Artists have to worry about ripped-off fans blaming them for Ticketmaster add-ons and scalpers.”

Although Young had no idea he was donating the ticket costs for an alleged benefit, the ticket-selling platforms spread false information to charge fans more than the usual fee. This led the rocker’s audience to send him letters complaining about the pricey tickets, so he had to clear the air about the accusations and blame online ticket booths for misleading people to sell overly-charged tickets.
