Ed Sheeran Joins Elton John And Courteney Cox To Perform ‘Tony Danza’

The famous musician, Ed Sheeran shared his latest performance of one of the most iconic songs of Elton John on his Instagram account. He performed the ‘Tony Danza‘ version of John’s ‘Tiny Dancer’ while he was collaborating with the legendary musician, Elton John and ‘Friends’ star, Courteney Cox.

As you may remember, Elton John’s fourth studio album entitled ‘Madman Across the Water’ was released on November 5, 1971. Initially, it was certified as gold and then as platinum by becoming one of the most popular albums of Elton. The album’s song ‘Tiny Dancer’ received positive comments and is still on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Even though, it was written in the title of the song, ‘Tiny Dancer’ was one of the songs which were misinterpreted. The original version of the lyrics was ‘hold me closer, tiny dancer’ but in a famous scene from ‘Friends’ Phoebe changed the lyrics to ‘hold me closer, young Tony Danza.’ The reason why the scene became so popular might be related both to the popularity of the show and the popularity of Tony Danza, who was a very successful sitcom actor.

Since its first episode, ‘Friends’ has been very popular and has had a great fanbase. When the show returned for another special episode as ‘Friends: The Reunion,’ the longtime fans became very excited. Recently, Ed Sheeran excited the fans again with his new Instagram video including his close friend and actress Courtney Cox, Elton John, and Brandie Carlile. In the video, they sang the ‘Tony Donza’ version of Elton John’s iconic song ‘Tiny Dancer’ as a tribute to Lisa Kudrow who is known for her portrayal of Phoebe Buffay in ‘Friends.’

Here’s what Ed Sheeran wrote in the caption of his post:

Lisa Kudrow this is for you (and Tony Danza) We did it! Courtney Cox, Elton John, and Brandi Carlile.”
