Neil Young Issues A Statement Targetting Elon Musk

Neil Young is now among the rockers who are boycotting X.

Following this week, many people, including fellow rockers, have been shutting down their X accounts due to Musk’s ‘antisemitic’ comments. Young, too, has been one of those people. Opening up about the matter on his website, the rocker shared:

“We are stopping all use of X that we can control. For reasons that should be obvious to the richest man on Earth, we are taking this action against his company.”

Additionally, Young shared a photo of Musk with a caption that read:

“Teslas should fly flags of love – not hate.”

The statement continued by touching on the Palestinian people:

“For our many Palestinian friends and our many Jewish friends, we do need to start over in the present and release our terrible connections to the past. As bad as they are, they need to be forgotten so we can be free to move on in life together, all humanity, focused on saving our planet for future generations of all people.”

Why Are Musicians Boycotting Elon Musk and X?

Young’s statement comes after Musk approved of a Friday tweet that accused Jewish people facing antisemitism due to the Israel-Hammas war of furthering the ‘exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them’ and supporting ‘hordes of minorities’ to become immigrants. Musk replied to the user that they were saying ‘the actual truth.’ Since those words, Musk has been receiving criticism.

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates condemned Musk for characterizing an anti-Semitic tweet that suggested Jews were destabilizing Western civilization by supporting immigration.

Musk’s Response to Accusations

Although he rejected the accusations and claims of antisemitism, following the criticism, a few rockers decided to get off the platform, including Gene Simmons.

Musk said in his statement he shared on November 20:

“This past week, there were hundreds of bogus media stories claiming that I am antisemitic. Nothing could be further from the truth. I wish only the best for humanity and a prosperous and exciting future for all.”

His words gained an immense amount of support, including from the Disturbed frontman, David Draiman.
