Neil Young, now 80 years old, announced that he canceled all of his 2026 tour plans, disappointing fans who had purchased tickets for his European shows. The announcement was made through a statement shared on Neil Young Archives.
The statement addressed his decision to cancel the tour and expressed his regret to fans who had already bought tickets.
“I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time,” Neil Young said. “Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time.”
Despite the cancellation, Young emphasized his continued passion for live performance.
“I do love playing LIVE and being with you and the Chrome Hearts,” he continued. “LOVE, Neil. Be well.”
The cancellation represents a significant shift for the veteran musician, who had been maintaining an active touring schedule with his Chrome Hearts band.
Ultimate Classic Rock reported that the canceled tour was set to be a 13-date European run called the “Love Earth tour” that was scheduled to launch June 19 in Manchester, England, at Heaton Park. The Chrome Hearts lineup features keyboardist Spooner Oldham, guitarist Micah Nelson, bassist Corey McCormick, and drummer Anthony LoGerfo. The band had backed Young extensively throughout 2025 across Europe, North America, Farm Aid, and his October Harvest Moon gathering.
The tour was planned to include notable venues across the UK. Louder Sound noted that stops were scheduled at Cornwall’s Eden Project, Chelmsford, Glasgow, Blenheim Palace, and Cardiff. Elvis Costello was set to open the first nine shows of the tour, adding to the anticipation among fans who had already purchased tickets.
Stereogum confirmed that the cancellation is not due to any health crisis but rather Young’s personal decision to “take a break.” This timing is particularly notable as it comes just 24 hours after another major rock cancellation. Twisted Sister called off their 50th anniversary shows due to Dee Snider’s health issues.
The Chrome Hearts band had been Young’s primary touring unit for his recent album Talkin to the Trees, released in 2025. The group had developed a strong chemistry with the legendary songwriter throughout their extensive touring together. Promoters have begun issuing refunds for the canceled dates, with no rescheduled shows announced at this time. Fans are left waiting for future announcements about Young’s return to the stage.
