Journey’s Neal Schon announced that the band was forced to postpone shows in Des Moines and Lincoln due to illness. This followed recent revelations about internal band conflicts shared on Schon Music’s Facebook page.

The announcement came as vocalist Arnel Pineda’s recent interview statements about wanting to retire from the band have surfaced. These statements add context to the current tour difficulties.

“Dear friends, Des Moines and Lincoln – we’re sincerely sorry we had to postpone our shows due to illness,” Schon said. “This is never an easy decision, and we know many of you made plans, traveled, and were ready to sing with us.”

“Please hold onto your tickets while we address the current schedule,” he continued. “We want nothing more than to come back and make those nights unforgettable. As always, we thank you for your patience, your loyalty, and your incredible spirit. Thank you!”

The postponement follows Pineda’s candid remarks about his relationship with the band during their ongoing farewell tour.

“Back in 2024, I said to [the band], ‘If you’re planning to do a farewell tour, you better tell me, because my issues and my personal problems are getting more intense, and I don’t know if I want to go with you,'” Pineda revealed in his recent interview. “As they say, silence can be louder than explaining. I said to them I wanted to retire because of my personal problems. No answer. Obviously, they don’t want to find another singer.”

The health-related postponements have raised concerns about the broader impact on Journey’s Final Frontier Tour schedule. This tour represents the band’s farewell run.

American Songwriter reported that the Des Moines show at Casey’s Center and the Lincoln show were both affected. Ticketholders received email notifications that the events are postponed rather than canceled. The illness affecting an unnamed band member requires rest and may create a “domino effect” on the tour schedule.

The Final Frontier Tour was announced in November 2025 and is set to conclude in summer 2026. The tour began in February 2026. Organizers are currently working with the band and venues to reschedule the affected dates. No specific timeline has been provided for the rescheduled performances.

The current postponements are explicitly health-related and not connected to the band’s internal tensions. However, the timing coincides with ongoing discussions about the group’s future. The next confirmed show on the tour schedule is set for Salt Lake City on April 12. This will serve as a test for whether the health issues will continue to impact upcoming performances.

The postponed shows represent a significant disruption for fans who had made travel plans and arrangements to attend the concerts. The band’s management has emphasized that tickets should be retained as they work to establish new dates for both the Des Moines and Lincoln performances.
