Scottish rock band Nazareth has announced the departure of frontman Carl Sentance and introduced their new lead singer, Gianni Pontillo, in an official statement shared on Facebook.

The band’s announcement addressed both the lineup change and their plans for the upcoming year.

“Carl Sentance and Nazareth have come to a parting of the ways, and he is no longer with the band,” the statement read. “We would like to introduce you now to our new lead singer, Gianni Pontillo.”

The band expressed confidence in their new vocalist and outlined their touring plans.

“Those who have seen and heard Gianni will already know what an incredible voice he has, and those of you who haven’t are in for a wonderful surprise when you come to see us in 2026,” they continued. “Next year is going to be one of the busiest in Nazareth’s history, so there is a good chance to see the new lineup, and we can’t wait to introduce you to this man’s amazing talent.”

This latest lineup change marks another chapter in Nazareth’s long history of vocalist transitions. The band continues to evolve while maintaining their distinctive rock sound.

Noise11 reported that Pontillo brings significant experience to the role. He previously performed with Italian bands TrickBox and SavN. His musical background demonstrates the depth of talent Nazareth sought when selecting their new frontman.

The timing of this announcement coincides with what the band describes as an exceptionally busy period ahead. BraveWords noted that the 2026 touring schedule represents one of the most ambitious years in the band’s extensive career. This provides ample opportunities for fans to experience the new lineup.

Sentance’s departure closes a significant chapter for the Scottish rock veterans. They have maintained their presence in the hard rock scene for decades. The transition to Pontillo signals the band’s commitment to continuing their musical journey with fresh energy while honoring their established legacy.

The announcement has generated considerable interest among the rock community. Fans eagerly anticipate how Pontillo’s vocal style will complement Nazareth’s classic repertoire. The band’s confidence in their new singer suggests they believe he possesses the range and power necessary to deliver their catalog of hits while potentially contributing to new material.
