Faith No More keyboardist Roddy Bottum recently addressed the future of the band in an interview shared on Alternative Nation.

When asked whether he would consider playing shows again with Faith No More if the opportunity arose, Bottum provided a definitive answer about the band’s future.

“I don’t think so. No,” Bottum said. “It’s not just me. I don’t think anyone’s sort of up for it at this point. We had a bunch of shows that we were gonna play, and they got canceled, just for various reasons. But I don’t think the course that we were on has fixed itself. I just don’t see it happening again, honestly.”

Bottum reflected on what the band accomplished during their reunion tours and expressed satisfaction with their artistic achievements.

“I think we did a really good job. We played a bunch of reunion tours, and I think we did what we kind of set out to do,” he continued. “So I don’t think anyone’s upset about it or anything. But I mean, for sure, getting back together would mean a big paycheck, but I think all of us are pretty good with what we did, sort of just like, artistically with the band and committing to ourselves and playing with each other. I think we’re all pretty good with the decisions that we’ve made up to now, and I don’t see what could really happen more getting back together and doing more shows.”

Bottum’s comments reflect a band that has been on an extended hiatus. The band has had no meaningful activity since their last live performances nearly nine years ago. The keyboardist has described Faith No More as being on a “semi permanent hiatus.” He has emphasized his focus on other musical projects, including MAN ON MAN, CRICKETS, and a horror art project called Nastie Band.

The canceled shows Bottum referenced stem from a 2021 incident that marked a turning point for the band. Rock and Roll Garage reported that the group rehearsed extensively for a planned North American reunion tour but was forced to cancel just before the first show when frontman Mike Patton failed to appear for the final rehearsal. The cancellation was related to Patton’s ongoing mental health struggles, specifically a diagnosis of agoraphobia and issues exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Patton publicly acknowledged these challenges in a 2022 Rolling Stone interview. He explained that continuing the tour risked his well-being and caused “broken feelings on both sides” within the band. Louder Sound noted that drummer Mike Bordin has expressed frustration that, after initially being unable to tour due to health reasons, Patton now appears unwilling to reunite with Faith No More, despite touring with his other band, Mr. Bungle. Bordin notes that the band was supportive when Patton couldn’t perform. However, the lack of communication and Patton’s apparent disinterest in future Faith No More activities has left the group in limbo.

The consensus among band members is clear: Faith No More is not making music or touring. There are no plans for a reunion. Consequence observed that while the door hasn’t been slammed shut with an official breakup announcement, the “semi permanent hiatus” tag suggests a return is highly unlikely in the near term. The statement suggests that Faith No More’s reunion era has come to a close. Band members are content with their legacy and moving forward with individual creative endeavors.
