Miley Cyrus has rebranded herself as a rock star, but she’s not the only one doing so. Following her Hall Of Fame induction, Dolly Parton also decided to be a rocker to deserve the spot. Now, the two are planning to host a New Year’s Eve special together. Recently, Miley Cyrus revealed how she convinced Parton to be a part of it.

Cyrus’ 2021 New Year’s Eve party was a big spectacle — it saw the performances of Billie Joe Armstrong, Jack Harlow, Brandi Carlisle, Saweetie, Noah Cyrus, Anitta, 24kGoldn, and Kitty Ca$h. Co-hosted by Pete Davidson, the party drew in 6.3 million viewers. As it seems, this year’s NYE Special will be co-hosted by Dolly Parton.

During a recent episode of Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, Miley Cyrus recalled asking Parton to be her show’s co-host. According to the popstar-turned-rocker, Parton told her she would want to come to New York, but she couldn’t be cold. However, when Cyrus told her it would be in Miami and they could wear little clothes, Dolly changed her mind.

Dolly Parton is my co-host this year,” Miley Cyrus said. “I called Dolly and asked her, ‘Would you do New Year’s?’ And she said, ‘Miley, I want to, but I can’t be cold. I can’t go to New York for New Year’s.’ I said, ‘It’s not in New York. It’s in Miami. It’s going to be warm. We can wear little clothes.’ And she said, ‘I’m in.’ Because she is the best.”

Miley Cyrus didn’t reveal further details about her highly-anticipated New Year’s Eve special, but fans will have a chance to watch the party on December 31 on NBC. Dolly Parton has thoughts of collaborating with Cyrus for her forthcoming rock album, so it seems this won’t be the last time we see the two together.
