In the new series of ‘Used To Be Young,’ Miley Cyrus has revealed information about one of the controversial photos of her career.
In the TikTok series, which she started sharing as a part of her new song ‘Used To Be Young,’ the singer reflected on the time she posed nearly nude at 15 for the cover of Vanity Fair in 2008. Cyrus shared that the picture was taken to break her ‘bubblegum pop star’ image intentionally.
In the video, Cyrus is seen showing the picture while saying the following words:
“Everyone knows the controversy of the photo, but they don’t really know the behind-the-scenes, which is always much more meaningful. My little sister, Noah, was sitting on Annie [Leibovitz] ‘s lap and actually pushing the button of the camera, taking the pictures. My family was on set.”
The singer was first known for her role in Hannah Montana, which gave her the look of the ‘bubblegum pop star.’ She expressed her thoughts about the image:
“This image of me is a complete opposite of the bubblegum pop star that I had been known for being and that’s what was so upsetting.”
Cyrus earlier addressed the same situation. When the pictures first came out, the singer stated an apology to her fans, claiming that the photoshoot was supposed to be ‘artistic.’ Ten years after her apology, she took to Twitter to share the New York Post’s headline of ‘Miley’s Shame,’ with the following words:
“I’m not sorry. F*ck you. 10 years ago”
