Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park discussed the impact of new members during a recent interview with 98 Rock Baltimore.

“Emily has had the insane challenge of figuring out the way to sing these songs and how to present ’em with us,” Shinoda said. “And she’s put in so much work. She’s done such a great job.”

“I think the reason it all works is because the talent part is not — that’s the lowest bar to clear,” he continued. “The higher bars to clear are more unusual and difficult to find. These include questions like: ‘Do we have similar goals? Do we get along on a day-to-day basis? Can we ride in a bus together in a van and on a flight and not kill each other?'”

“It’s the furthest thing from that right now,” Shinoda explained. “We are just really enjoying it. Every show has been the best. She’s doing a great job.”

“We actually also have a new drummer, Colin,” he added. “They’re a little younger than us, too. Their energy keeps our spirits high. The shows have been going great. I can’t wait for you guys to see it.”

Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain have brought new energy to the band. This marks a significant development in Linkin Park’s evolution.

The path to this new lineup spans several years. The band focused on finding the right chemistry and talent throughout the process.

Blabbermouth revealed that Shinoda first met Emily Armstrong during a 2019 writing session. Her skills made a strong impression. The timing wasn’t right for immediate collaboration then. Their professional relationship began to develop around 2022.

The band has launched their ‘From Zero’ tour to showcase the new lineup. Blabbermouth noted that the North American leg kicked off in Austin. This event marks a fresh chapter in the band’s history.

Impericon Magazine confirmed Linkin Park’s upcoming appearances at several German festivals in 2025. This international scheduling demonstrates the revamped lineup’s growing presence.

The band has taken a strategic approach to introducing new members. They maintain their signature sound while showing their commitment to evolution and musical legacy.
