Chester Bennington’s son Jaime decided to leave Instagram after the threat controversy.

“Today’s presidential inauguration was a disgrace. I am fed up,” the musician wrote in his Instagram post. “Today will be my last day on Instagram. I can no longer in good conscience utilize Meta in the construction of the Picture Pieces Archive.”

He continued, “I know that if I want to keep the PPA online I will need to invest in new systems, but that is a process I am willing to pay. I want nothing to do with these tech billionaires. No matter how inconvenient the process of seeking out alternative means may be, I will immediately be offloading media from ALL problematic digital platforms.”

“Thank you to all of you who have chosen to see me and my mission even if the full extent of that vision has yet to be actualized in its entirety. This is not a rash decision. For nearly 12 years I have cultivated this living scrapbook. Utilizing this platform as tool in documenting my evolution from a teenager into a full fledged adult. This decision is a heavy one. The consequences far reaching,” Jaime further explained his reasons.

He added, “What began as an attempt at satire aimed toward what I perceived to be the shortcomings of both local and global society became not only a sounding board for those innermost thoughts and feelings about my exploration of Self and the death of my father but also a soapbox for my desire to become an advocate for the human solution.”

“In the process: I graduated high school, and then college. Witnessed the cannibalization and collapse of my familial structures. Lived out and put to rest careers in music, film, television, and literature. Shined a light on the mental health awareness needs of art industry and wildland fire. Willingly deconstructed, reconstructed, and recalibrated my mental, emotional, and physical systems so that I may better serve Self as a living being, and so in a more serious way utilize my gifts in the empowerment of my people. Started my own family. AND MORE,” Jaime shared.

In a follow-up post, Jaime said he learned about love, hate, communication, and empathy on the platform. He warned that the next four years would be tough and advised people to protect their peace and stay empathetic.

He just included a black background in his posts. Jaime cited Trump’s inauguration ceremony as the reason for his departure from Instagram but he has been struggling with constant threats recently. This also might have affected his decision.
