Mick Jagger’s ex-wife Jerry Hall has opened up about her relationship with the Rolling Stones frontman and his new family, in an interview published by Vogue UK.
Hall spoke warmly about Jagger’s life with his fiancée Melanie Hamrick and their son Deveraux Octavian Basil. She described the dynamic between their blended families as surprisingly harmonious.
“He comes out here quite a bit, Sunday lunch, him and Mel and their son, Dev. They’re so sweet,” Hall said.
She went on to praise Jagger’s approach to navigating the complexities of co-parenting across multiple families.
“Mick is a great diplomat [when it comes to grandparenting within a blended family]. All the kids love each other. All the mothers of the kids love each other. It’s just odd, isn’t it? Just worked out that way,” she continued.
Hall’s comments offer a rare and candid glimpse into the personal dynamics between Jagger’s former and current partners, suggesting a notably amicable extended family arrangement.
The warmth Hall describes reflects a relationship that has been years in the making — one that began long before the public became aware of just how serious things had become between Jagger and Hamrick.
Jagger and Hamrick first began dating in 2014, as reported by People. The couple welcomed their son Deveraux Octavian Basil in December 2016. They kept much of their relationship out of the spotlight for years, with their engagement only coming to wider public attention more recently.
In April 2025, Hamrick confirmed the engagement. She revealed that the couple had actually been engaged for “two or three years” before the news became public, as People noted. The quiet nature of the announcement was consistent with how the couple has handled much of their personal life.
Hamrick is a former professional ballerina who danced for 16 years before retiring. She has also spoken about the effort both she and Jagger put into maintaining a positive environment for everyone involved. “We try to support each other, be there for each other, and make sure everyone is happy,” she has said — a sentiment that appears to be shared by Hall herself.
The blended family dynamic is no small undertaking. Jagger has eight children with five different women, as well as several grandchildren. That Hall speaks so openly and positively about the arrangement speaks to the unusual but seemingly functional family structure that has formed around the rock legend over the decades.
