Stryper’s Michael Sweet shared his thoughts on the new Judas Priest song, ‘Crown Of Horns,’ and he thinks it ‘takes guts’ to write a rock song about Jesus.

The rocker took to Instagram to share his opinions on the new track, which Sweet interpreted as a song related to Jesus. Highlighting being a Judas Priest fan, he wrote:

“This is why Judas Priest is my favorite metal band of all time. Consistency. Talent. Songs. And, they have the courage to write a song about Jesus. That takes guts. I’m very proud to be a fan. A Priest & Stryper Tour would be ridiculous! Just sayin’…”

Sweet’s Fans Think The Otherwise

Despite Sweet’s comments on Rob Halford’s courage to ‘write about Jesus,’ some commented that the song is not about Jesus since it included ‘horns’ in the title, claiming horns represent Satan. Some also claimed that the title was taken from the eponymous 2004 comic. A few even went on to say that it simply cannot be about Jesus and Christianism since Halford is openly gay.

When Is The Album Coming Out?

The new track has been released as the third single from the upcoming album ‘Invincible Shield.’ Judas Priest initiated the production of the new album in February 2020; however, the progress was halted, and the project was put on hold because of COVID. Now, the band is getting ready to release their 19th studio record, which is scheduled to drop on March 8 via Sony Music. The album includes eleven new tracks, along with three more in the deluxe edition.
