Everyone has their opinions when the question ‘who is the best guitar maestro of all time’ pops up. Well, at least Kirk Hammett had his answer to that, as the Metallica icon recently shared on Instagram that he had finally met his guitar hero.
It’s not every day that one might get to meet their musical heroes. So without a doubt, Hammett spending time with who we might call his idol was so much of an honor that the guitarist had to share it with the world. And if you’re wondering who is that guitar hero, well, you’re about to learn all about it.
So, Kirk Hammett modestly wrote that he believed that John McLaughlin was the one true maestro, and it was a pleasure meeting him. So, as the two posed for a picture, the Metallica icon immortalized the moment with a caption that made it clear how much he admired the legendary guitarist, honoring McLaughlin by calling him one true maestro.
The caption of Hammett’s IG post stated the following as he appreciated his personal guitar hero:
“It was with much humility and gratitude to be able to meet Mr. John McLaughlin this weekend, a great and true maestro in my world. Thank you, Ross Halfin, for the photo.”
Upon seeing the post, John 5 commented right away, stating, “Holy sh*t! Yes!” as well as Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea commenting, “Awesome!” beneath the photo. So, it must indeed have been a fantastic time for Kirk to spend time with his guitar hero, and we might say that the other rockers share Hammett’s thoughts about admiring John McLaughlin’s years-long works.
