Metallica Pays Tribute To Joey Jordison By Recalling The Time He Replaced Lars Ulrich


Metallica shared a photo of former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison from the time he had replaced Lars Ulrich during the 2004 Download Festival on the band’s official Instagram account and reflected their sadness about his unexpected and early death.

The 2004 Download Festival started on June 5, in Donington. Metallica and Linkin Park were the headliners of the festival and they share the stage with numerous iconic bands such as HIM, Slayer, Korn, Slipknot, and many more. However, the festival didn’t only leave a mark in history thanks to the great performances but was also remembered due to the absence of Metallica’s Lars Ulrich.

Even though the truth about the disappearance of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich is still unknown, it was rumored that he couldn’t go on stage due to his health problems. The band was desperately in need of a drummer to replace Ulrich during the festival and Joey Jordison rose to the occasion.

In their recent Instagram post, Metallica recalled the time when Joey Jordison replaced Lars Ulrich who disappeared during the 2004 Download Festival. It was a tribute to the former Slipknot drummer who died in his sleep on June 26, 2021. The band expressed their sadness and gratitude for Jordison by calling him their brother and wished he rests in peace.
