Carla Harvey has finally opened up about her decision to leave Butcher Babies after 15 years with the band.

“The last 15 years of my life have been spent on stage, entertaining people in a capacity that I never dreamed I would have, especially after so much disappointment in my early years in L.A. So I got to do that,” Harvey explained in a new interview with The Ward Bond Show. “I got to be a rock star. I got to do all the things. And then 15 years later, my mind kind of changed again.”

“So there’s so much that goes into being in a band, especially as you get older and your life changes, you have relationships, you have a partner,” she continued. “I have a stepdaughter, and the idea, all of a sudden, of being on the road 10, 12 months out of the year became just a lot to handle. And in a band there’s five people, and half of those people may feel like they want to be on the road constantly all the time and then some people are, like, ‘Maybe it’s halftime.’ So it doesn’t always work out for the greater good of everybody.”

Butcher Babies announced in July this year that Harvey left the band. They thanked her for her talent and energy over the years and wished her the best. Harvey then separately confirmed that she won’t be returning after 15 years with Butcher Babies.

However, this didn’t surprise most fans, as they already saw it coming. “Many of us already saw that coming as the interaction between Carla and the band ceased in the past months,” a fan commented on the band’s statement. “I hope this decision was amicable and I wish Carla and the band all the best. Heidi is very hardworking and can play double duty on stage but I’m kinda sad about it especially because I’ve been following BB for +10 years and never got the chance to see BB live.”

“Oh, what a a surprise… Expecting this since her ‘eye surgery,’ that forced her to miss the last European tour,” another added sarcastically.

Harvey’s exit from the band didn’t mean that her music career was over. Last month, she announced her new project The Violent Hour. Some of the first recording sessions were handled by producer Jay Ruston. Ruston has also worked with bands like Anthrax, Steel Panther, and Uriah Heep.
