Blabbermouth reports that Dave Mustaine has announced Megadeth’s departure from Universal Records. The band has formed a new partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s imprint BLKIIBLK.
“When I first met Tom Lipsky and Bob Chiappardi back in the day, I had no idea we would be working together again so many years in the future,” Mustaine said. “I look forward to working with Serafino and the team in Italy and I can’t wait for the fans to hear the songs from our new record.”
The band’s decision to switch record labels before their upcoming album release marks a bold strategic move in their career trajectory.
This significant change signals a new chapter in Megadeth’s storied career.
Impericon Magazine reveals the new album will arrive in 2025. The release follows their successful 2022 record, ‘The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!’ which garnered praise from both fans and critics.
Metal Injection highlights several milestones for the upcoming album. It will be their first release featuring guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, who replaced Kiko Loureiro in 2023.
The band is currently developing new material in their creative process. They are gathering riff ideas and plan to record in Nashville. Mäntysaari’s presence brings a fresh perspective to Megadeth’s signature sound.
This label transition and new album project showcase Megadeth’s commitment to evolution. The band continues to embrace change while maintaining their distinctive musical identity.
