Josh Freese shared a playful moment on Instagram. Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan orchestrated a surprise prank involving rubber snakes during a recent performance.
The incident took place during a performance of “Pachyderm” with Primus. Freese was one of three drummers on stage when he detailed the unexpected moment in his social media post.
“It’s not every day Maynard pranks ya but when he does he’ll send out for 50 rubber snakes, have em dropped on you when he gives the sign (look close) and then throw MORE at you when you think it’s all done,” Freese explained.
He further described the timing of the prank: “The fake snake thing is getting out of hand out on this tour. Luckily this was at the end of Pachyderm with Primus when us 3 drummers are just kind of rocking out a bit.”
The playful incident adds to the memorable moments from their ongoing tour.
The snake prank emerged as a highlight of the current “Sessanta Tour.” This tour has established itself as a notable collaboration between multiple bands and artists.
The Mosh revealed details about the tour’s unique structure. The unprecedented collaboration features A Perfect Circle, Primus, and Puscifer sharing the stage and rotating through their performances. The tour gained additional attention with the premiere of “Little Lord Fentanyl,” a new song featuring Maynard James Keenan performing with Primus.
IMDB noted Freese’s significant return to touring. His participation in the Sessanta Tour marked his first time performing with A Perfect Circle in 13 years. His involvement remained limited to shows through April 20th at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
ShowBams documented the transition in the tour’s lineup. Puscifer’s Gunnar Olsen assumed drumming duties after Freese’s departure. The change occurred due to Freese’s commitments with Foo Fighters.
The Sessanta Tour’s unique format has fostered memorable moments and collaborations between the participating artists. The snake prank stands as one example of the tour’s entertaining atmosphere.
