Max Cavalera has shared some good news for Soulfly fans.
In a recent interview with Radioactive MikeZ, host of ‘Wired In The Empire,’ the Soulfly leader revealed new details about the upcoming Soulfly studio album. When asked if he has been writing and recording anything for certain records, the rocker shared his plans for Soulfly in the near future. Revealing the band would be returning their earlier sounds, he responded:
“And Soulfly, I’m kind of planning a little bit of a return to the early sound. The big-groove tribal sound will return to Soulfly. I think a lot of fans want that. I love that. I think it’s kind of like a trademark of Soulfly that kind of got lost in the shuffle through the years. We went more into the trashier side of stuff. But now I have [my side project] Go Ahead And Die that I can trash all I want in it. I can have Soulfly be a little bit more what it was in the beginning — more about that, the whole tribal thing, which is really cool and unique. It’s a unique thing that Soulfly has. So we’re gonna probably go back more to that, which should be really cool.”
When Is The Album Coming Out?

The album will serve as their follow-up to their 2022 album ‘Totem,’ which received high praise from critics despite the fact that the closing track was essentially a 10-minute Cavalera family reunion.
Even though the title and release date for the upcoming record have not been announced yet, Cavalera previously mentioned that it would not be released before 2025. The frontman, who is also busy with his solo project, explained:
“I’m starting to get the ideas formed for Soulfly. It’s new in terms of riffs. I find it hard to write on the road, so I don’t do a whole lot of that. I kind of like to be home and be on my writing mindset. And then I delve entirely [into] that. So on tour right now, this is Go Ahead And Die hands on deck. It’s all Go Ahead And Die stuff right now… But, yeah, eventually at some point I will start working on the new Soulfly. It’s probably not gonna come out till next year, if I’m being realistic…”
