The 1975 is going on a hiatus.
Recently, the band’s frontman, Matty Healy, revealed that the band would be going on an indefinite break from touring once their ongoing tour ends. The band is now in the middle of the ‘Still… At Their Very Best’ North American Tour.
The news was shared this Tuesday during their recent show in Golden 1 Center set in California. The moment of the speech was caught in a fan-recorded video. The frontman is seen to say the following:
“Thank you so much for coming — this tour will take us about six months. It’s crazy to think about. We always love… playing for you guys whenever we have the chance. It’s wonderful you’re all here. After this tour, we will be going on an indefinite hiatus of shows, so it’s wonderful to have you guys with us tonight. Thank you so much.”
Prior to the show, the band’s manager had been hinting to the fans about the band’s hiatus by stating that the shows would be ‘something to remember.’
There has been no official statement as to the reason behind the band’s indefinite hiatus, but it is guessed to be due to causing controversy with their acts like bringing and kissing fans on stage, criticizing the Malaysian government for anti-LGBTQ policies, and such.
A statement from all the band members is yet to come. Below, you can see the recent video.
