From First To Last guitarist Matt Good has addressed not being included in the When We Were Young lineup.
The 2024 edition of the When We Were Young festival, scheduled for mid-October in Las Vegas, has stirred some dissatisfaction over its lineup. The guitarist expressed frustration that his band was not invited to perform, especially after Taking Back Sunday was recently added to the lineup. He took to X to share his thoughts:
“It’s literally insane no one has ever asked From First To Last to play this. I feel like I’m being gaslit lol.”
Fans’ Reaction To The Exclusion Of FFTL

The festival’s current lineup includes notable acts such as My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, The All-American Rejects, Coheed and Cambria, Underoath, and more. Each band is set to play one of their classic albums in full, with Taking Back Sunday focusing on their 2002 release, Tell All Your Friends.
Naturally, fans were not so happy with the exclusion of From First To Last, since they wanted to hear the band’s hit album ‘Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Bodycount’ live. A fan wrote:
“Holy sh*t they seriously never even tried to reach out to you?? I can’t even count how many times I’ve been seeing people online saying they’d kill to see ‘Dear Diary’ played. This is criminal.”
Though they were never invited, some fans thought they had been invited, but the band declined:
“NEVER asked? Holy shit. I always just assumed y’all have declined. When We Were Young Fest, what are you doing?! ‘Dear Diary’ is f*cking legendary. The epitome of the scene in the early 2000’s.”
