Creed’s Mark Tremonti apparently has a favorite Metallica album he would save from his home if it were on fire.

In a new chat with Classic Rock, the guitarist recalled hearing the record during his teenage years and shared how it affected his career today.

“‘Master Of Puppets’ is the album that made me want to do this,” he revealed. “Before that I was just into what everybody else listened to, like Beastie Boys’ ‘Licensed To Ill.’ I’d already started getting into guitar through simple stuff; like the J Geils Band would come on the radio with ‘Love Stinks,’ that bit when it breaks down to just a guitar riff. But when I heard ‘Master Of Puppets,’ that’s when I was up all night.”

Tremonti’s life was changed when he heard ‘Master Of Puppets’ for the first time in his life. However, a particular song from the album helped him realize he wanted to be a musician.

“‘Welcome Home (Sanitarium)’ was the song that made me want to listen to that record,” he told Kerrang!. “I was looking up to both James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett. I never focused solely on guitar solos or anything, and it was just the song as a whole.”

The guitarist also admitted that he never listened to any metal before hearing Metallica.

While Metallica will continue their live shows on April 19 in New York, Creed will take place at Stagecoach Festival from April 25 to 27 in California.
