Mark Slaughter recently addressed the possibility of Slaughter releasing a new album. He discussed the challenges facing the band in a statement shared on Rock 100.5 KATT FM.

The Slaughter frontman explained the difficulties of coordinating with band members who are scattered across different locations. He addressed whether it’s possible for Slaughter to release a follow-up to the band’s fifth album, ‘Back To Reality,’ which came out more than 25 years ago in 1999.

“Well, that’s like herding cats; that’s the problem. These guys are all over,” Slaughter said. “Jeff ‘Blando’ [Bland, Slaughter guitarist] is over in Florida. Dana [Strum, Slaughter bassist], he’s over in [Las] Vegas and other parts of the country, and Jordan [Cannata, Slaughter drummer] is over in Long Island [New York].”

The frontman emphasized the logistical challenges while expressing his desire to create new music with the band.

“So it’s really one of those things of getting everybody together to do that,” he continued. “And it’s one of those things of, yes, I would love to do a Slaughter record, but it’s herding cats. That’s the best way I can put it.”

Despite the challenges of creating new studio material, Slaughter remains an active touring force in the rock music scene.

The band’s official website revealed that Slaughter has sold over 5 million records worldwide. The group also won an American Music Award during their 33-year career. The band continues to maintain a strong presence in the live music circuit, focusing primarily on touring rather than studio releases.

The group has maintained an extensive touring schedule. Bandsintown shows multiple 2026 tour dates across the United States. Their upcoming performances include shows at various casinos and venues, demonstrating the band’s continued draw with audiences despite the lengthy gap since their last studio album.

Concert listings revealed that Slaughter has scheduled performances at venues like Sugar Creek Casino in Hinton and Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland. This indicates their ongoing commitment to live performances. The band’s touring activity suggests that while new studio material remains uncertain, they continue to satisfy fan demand through their live shows.

The band’s ability to maintain relevance in the rock scene for over three decades speaks to their enduring appeal. This remains true even as the prospect of new recorded material remains complicated by the geographical challenges Mark Slaughter described. Their focus on live performances has allowed them to stay connected with their fanbase while navigating the practical difficulties of reuniting for studio work.
