Former Vixen vocalist Lorraine Lewis opened up about her departure from the band in a recent interview with Brutal Planet Media.
“I didn’t leave. I was fired. And so that’s the truth of it,” Lewis stated. “When it all went down, I was really in shock. I had been in the band for over five years. I know that I did my job, and I really believe I elevated the band.”
“People can say, ‘Oh, she thinks she’s all that,’ just by that coming out of my mouth. But I really believe that,” she continued. “I think that I brought a new life to the band. I come from the school of David Lee Roth, so I am in your face. I stick out my tongue a lot when I’m on stage because it’s like an exclamation mark when you’re up there. It feels so damn good. I just had the time of my life.”
Lewis’s departure marks the end of a significant chapter in Vixen’s recent history. This follows several notable developments in the band’s lineup.
Blabbermouth reported that Lewis stepped into the role in 2019 after Janet Gardner’s unexpected departure. Lewis brought renewed energy to the group’s performances throughout her tenure while maintaining an active touring schedule.
The band achieved notable success in the summer of 2023. Ultimate Metal highlighted Lewis’s memorable performances across various venues during this period.
Lewis has already embarked on new musical ventures following her departure from Vixen. Rock Pages revealed her current studio collaboration with former Foreigner singer Lou Gramm. This partnership demonstrates her ongoing commitment to rock music.
The vocalist’s exit adds another chapter to Vixen’s history of lineup changes. Lewis maintains that she made significant contributions to the band’s legacy during her five-year tenure.
