Liam Gallagher recently addressed Oasis’ induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, explaining his change of heart about the organization in a statement shared on X.

Gallagher had previously expressed opposition to the induction and asked fans not to vote for the band. The statement came after this earlier stance. He thanked supporters and reflected on achieving a childhood dream.

“I wanna thank all the people who voted for us it’s a real honour ever since I was a little kid and singing in the shower I’d dream about 1 day being in the RnR hall of fame it’s true what they say anything is possible if you have a dream,” Gallagher said.

An Oasis fan questioned his apparent change of stance, asking “What happened to not wanting to be in it?” Gallagher provided insight into what influenced his new perspective.

“Well I was speaking to my mummy last night when the news broke and she thinks I may have been a little hasty with my perception of the organization,” he responded. “She’s told me to stop being a d*ck and go to the awards and behave and you never know you might enjoy it.”

Gallagher’s dramatic shift in attitude represents a complete reversal from his earlier public statements about the prestigious music institution.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame official site reported that Oasis was one of six acts inducted in the 2025 class, alongside Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, MC5, and others. The Hall announced this in December 2024. The Manchester band’s inclusion marked a significant milestone for British rock music of the 1990s.

Gallagher’s previous hostility toward the Rock Hall was well-documented and characteristically blunt. NME noted that in October 2024, he had called the Hall “a load of bollocks.” He urged fans via social media to vote for other nominees instead. This public dismissal of the institution made his recent gratitude all the more surprising to fans and music industry observers.

The induction ceremony will take place later this year. It remains to be seen whether both Gallagher brothers will attend given their ongoing feud. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has long been considered the ultimate recognition for musical artists, celebrating those who have had a significant impact on the evolution of rock and roll.

Oasis’s eligibility for induction came 25 years after the release of their debut album “Definitely Maybe” in 1994. This is the standard waiting period for Rock Hall consideration. The band’s influence on British rock music and their role in the Britpop movement of the 1990s likely contributed to their selection for this honor.
