Lacuna Coil’s Cristina Scabbia was a big fan of Duran Duran’s John Taylor while she was a teenager.

The singer recently revealed to Loudwire her five favorite albums from her youth. After Ice-T’s ‘Power,’ Jean Michel Jarre’s ‘Equinoxe,’ and Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin,’ her fourth choice was Duran Duran’s ‘Rio.’

She explained, “Music on the main charts was in its top quality moment when bands such Duran Duran were actually playing real instruments and performing amazingly live. Their album ‘Rio’ changed the game.”

“My room was full of Duran Duran posters, I was madly in love with their music. I was especially obsessed with John Taylor so much that I decided to get the same haircut with bleached bangs…,” Scabbia revealed. “I looked so bad, haha! I loved ‘Save a Prayer’ so much and still do.”

The vocalist’s last choice was The Police’s ‘Zenyatta Mondatta.’ In a 2019 chat with Revolver, Scabbia also named Duran Duran’s ‘Save A Prayer’ as the first song she ever fell in love with.

“I was a huge Duran Duran fan when I was younger,” she said of Duran Duran. “You could probably say I was obsessed. I had to collect everything: posters, books, records, you name it.”

Cristina further shared, “I would write about them in my diary at school, and I still love them to this day. It’s so hard to pick just one song, but ‘Save A Prayer’ will always have a special place in my heart.”

In their fifth studio album ‘Shallow Life,’ Lacuna Coil worked with producer Don Gilmore, who also worked with Duran Duran in the past.

Following the release of their new album ‘Sleepless Empire’ last week, Lacuna Coil will support it with their South American tour. It starts on March 12 in Dyn, Argentina. Then, the group will also tour North America and Europe.
