The positive reaction from the Korn drummer highlights the excitement within the rock community over Rush’s return to live performance with their new lineup.

This historic performance took place on March 29, 2026, at the TD Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, during the 2026 Juno Awards. Guitar Player reported that the surprise reunion set featured Geddy Lee on a Seafoam Green Fender Jazz Bass, Alex Lifeson on a Goldtop Gibson Les Paul, Anika Nilles on drums, and keyboardist Loren Gold.

The band performed “Finding My Way,” the opening track from their 1974 debut album. Videos of past performances, including footage of the late Neil Peart, played on screens behind them. Guitar World noted that this marked Rush’s first live performance since 2015, which was Peart’s final show with the band.

Following the performance, band members shared their thoughts on the reunion. Geddy Lee stated post-show that playing with the “young and exciting” Nilles is “another tribute” to Peart. He believes Peart would approve with a “smirk and thumbs up.” Alex Lifeson added his characteristic humor to the moment. He quipped that it’s “the only song Rush knows how to play.”

The performance served as a preview for Rush’s upcoming “Fifty Something” tour. The tour is set to begin on June 7, 2026, in Los Angeles. Nilles was recommended by the band’s tech from her previous work with Jeff Beck. She brings her extensive experience to one of rock’s most revered rhythm sections.

This reunion represents a significant moment in rock history. Rush continues their legacy with a new generation of talent while honoring the memory of their longtime drummer Neil Peart, who passed away in 2020.
