Kirk Hammett Says He’s Working On New Riffs But It Raised Metallica Fans’ Concerns
Metallica lead guitarist Kirk Hammett recently posted a photo on his Instagram account and informed his followers about the band’s upcoming album but some fans seemed concerned about the methods that they are using to save their data as things had gone south back in 2015.
Kirk Hammett is without a doubt one of the most famous guitarists of all time and he achieved mainstream success after he left Exodus to join Metallica in 1983 and he’s been with the iconic band ever since. Although he’s now known for his iconic riffs and great songwriting, there have been times that he messed up too.
As you may recall, back in 2015 Metallica was getting ready to release the follow-up to their 2008 album ‘Death Magnetic,’ and although everything seemed to be going well, Hammett dropped a bombshell. He shocked millions when he revealed that he lost his phone which had 250 recorded musical ideas which were not backed up.
Here’s what he’d said during an interview back in 2015:
“I lost my iPhone with 250 musical ideas. I was crushed. It didn’t get backed up. When it happened, I was bummed out for about two or three days. I’m still looking for it to this day… It still might turn up, I’m hoping that it will.”
Kirk had also said that he only remembered eight of those riffs and even though six years have gone by, it seems like he never found his phone. After his recent post on Instagram, in the caption of which he said that he’s been trying to remember the riff he just had, a fan advised him not to save anything on his phone as that didn’t go well the last time.
Here’s what Kirk Hammett said in the caption of his post:
“Monday Mood (aka what the hell was that riff I just had?).”
To which a fan commented:
“Don’t record ’em in your phone doe.”
