Kerry King Delivers Exciting News To Slayer Fans

Kerry King is aware that Slayer fans will love his new album.

In a new interview with Heavy Consequence, King shared the details of his upcoming solo album. Discussing the similarity of it to a Slayer record, the rocker made sure that any Slayer fan would love at least a single track off the album:

“It was very similar. First and foremost, I wrote most of the last Slayer record, so people know what I sound like, people know how I write. This one I did one-hundred percent of, so if you’ve ever liked anything I’ve done in the past, there’s going to be something you’re going to like on this one, if not the whole thing. I love the whole thing.”

Apparently, the upcoming album is the closest to King’s sound. The rocker went on to thank to his producer for being able to capture the sound exactly and shared more details:

“My sound is what we’ve done on the last, I couldn’t tell you how many Slayer records. And one thing I feel is that Josh really captured probably the closest to my live sound, because my live sound is very hard to get to tape. I think this is the closest it’s ever been. So that’s very exciting for me. And the rest of it, Paul [Bostaph]’s playing, so hell yeah, it’s going to sound like Slayer because he’s got his own style. You know, screamy vocals — new guy — but you know, it’s still definitely got the vibe.”

Details About King’s New Band And Album

Slayer bid farewell in November 2019, which came right before COVID and the pandemic hit the world in 2020. While there’s no indication of a Slayer reunion, fans can now anticipate new music that bears a resemblance to Slayer, thanks to former Slayer guitarist Kerry King.

Although there hasn’t been an official album announcement yet, King’s band is set to launch their first album, produced by Josh Wilbur. Kerry King’s highly anticipated project after leaving Slayer will be revealed this year.

King also collaborated with various artists on his debut album, although he hasn’t disclosed their names.

The New Album Is A Slayer ‘Extension’

Although a reunion appears unlikely, fans can still rejoice as Bostaph and King will be collaborating for the first time since their split. The forthcoming debut album from the band also promises to echo the style of Slayer.

In a prior interview, the musician clarified that the only distinction between the album and a Slayer release lies in the timing, asserting that it serves as an ‘extension’ of the Slayer sound. He also stated that if the band were still intact, people would undoubtedly mistake it for a Slayer album.

The release date is yet to be announced.
