Keanu Reeves and Dogstar Reunited After 20 Years

It’s been 23 years and 4 John Wick since the band’s last album. Dogstar reunited for a 12-song performance at Napa Valley’s BottleRock Festival. Although it’s been over 20 years since the last live performance, they declared the reunion on the band’s Instagram page.

Dogstar members sat down with Billboard recently and explained their decision. Keanu Reeves said:

“I missed playing together, I missed writing together, I missed doing shows together. It’s something I’ve always missed. We came to a spot where we weren’t playing anymore, and I missed it … Once we started to play, and it felt good, and really positive and creative, that’s when it was like, ‘Okay, let’s make this happen.”

It seems the end of band’s long break came to end and the trio looks glad to be playing together again. Reeves continued:

“I think all three of us just said, ‘Well, if we’re going to do this, let’s make a record.”

It looks like this is how they decided to make a new album. Singer-guitarist Domrose added:

“We just knew that there was ‘X’ amount of time, and we needed to make the most of it. We just locked on as wanting to make this record, and it happened pretty quickly.”

Although Dogstar last performed together in 2002, their bonds were stronger than that, Mailhouse explained:

“We’ve sort of been sporadically getting together, because we’re all friends.”

Domrose is a Santa Clara native and he was the paperboy for The Chronicle:

Santa Clara seems to like Dogstar and their former paperboy, Domrose.
