In one of his recent YouTube videos, Justin Hawkins shared his thoughts on Damiano David’s new solo project and explained why he should be taken seriously.

“I always wonder about Damiano with a part of his kind of journey as an artist is to sort of get people to take him seriously. For me, he’s done enough already, like he’s a force,” the singer explained. “He’s a beautiful individual making important decisions aesthetically and I think he’s writing great songs. I hope he’s having fun with the music that he’s making. It’d be a shame if it sort of got swallowed up in seriousness.”

“I think he’s presenting himself as somebody that we need to take seriously and as I said before I don’t want that to be at the expense of him enjoying himself. I mean remember when he first broke through, he was wearing Cates and having all the fun now he’s wearing white vests with his hair slicked, looking serious. I love him I think he’s amazing,” Hawkins added.

The Måneskin frontman first announced his solo project a week ago. The singer started his solo career with a new single called ‘Silverlines.’

“I travelled all around the world to find my voice, just to end up where everything started. Today is the first day of my life,” David said in a video teaser.

At the 2024 MTV VMAs, he talked about his solo career, saying, “I’ve been working for a long, long time on a new project. And September 27 is the date of release so I would love everyone to stay tuned.”

In a previous interview, David said he was open to solo projects, and he eventually found himself in one.

The frontman isn’t the only member who started working on a solo career. Bassist Victoria De Angelis also recently announced her solo project and her first single, ‘Get Up B*tch (Shake Ya A**).’
