Romeo Bongiovi, the youngest son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi, recently opened up about his approach to music and celebrity. He shared his thoughts in an interview on The Dory Jackson Interview.
The conversation touched on Romeo’s decision to form his rock band Lawn and his philosophy on fame. He explained why he prefers to keep things grounded rather than chasing widespread recognition.
“I’m trying to think so local right now. I don’t really like the idea of celebrity even,” Romeo said. “If you focus too much on that, especially in the beginning, because I know a few artists who are, like, pretty popular or on the rise, but they keep everything so local that they know all of their fans. You know, they know every fan page, and they talk to them, and they know, like, every person who’s interested in the music.”
Romeo went on to explain the risk of losing focus when ambition becomes too broad. That perspective shapes how he is approaching the early stages of his career.
“I think that if you’re focusing so much on the world domination of it all, that ultimately you can lose vision,” he continued. “But right now, I’m trying to prepare for just meeting new people out here [now that I’ve moved to Los Angeles].”
Romeo Bongiovi’s comments come as he settles into Los Angeles and continues building momentum with Lawn. His priority is genuine connection with fans over rapid fame — a mindset that has been present since the very beginning of the band’s formation.
Lawn came together in 2024 while Romeo and his bandmates Daniel Coppola and Cliff Dobson were enrolled at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. The band describes its sound as indie rock and alt rock, with a deliberate push toward a harsher, more experimental edge. That direction sets them apart from the polished, radio-friendly rock associated with Romeo’s famous last name.
The group wasted little time in putting their music out into the world. Lawn released their debut EP, House Party Hero, in April 2025, followed by the single “LASO.” The releases marked a clear statement of intent — a band focused on building something real rather than capitalizing on a famous surname.
Romeo graduated from the Frost School of Music in May 2026 before relocating to Los Angeles, where Lawn is now based. The move signals a new chapter for the band as they look to expand their reach while staying true to their community-first approach.
Jon Bon Jovi has confirmed that Romeo is fronting the band without any assistance from his father. The rock icon has expressed admiration for Romeo’s determination to carve out his own identity — a stance that directly pushes back against any notion of riding on family connections to fast-track a career in music.
