Jon Bon Jovi recently reflected on his return to the live stage after a break due to vocal troubles. He shared his perspective on performing and personal fulfillment in an interview with iHeart Radio.

The rock legend discussed how his approach to touring differs from other musicians. He emphasized the balance he maintains between his career and personal life. Bon Jovi explained his feelings about returning to perform after an extended absence.

“It’s been so long. Truthfully, it’s just that it’s been so long since I’ve stood behind the microphone and felt that rush,” Bon Jovi said. “You miss it, but I’m not a junkie for it. And this is what differentiates me from some others.”

He further elaborated on what sets his perspective apart from his peers in the industry.

“I’ve known and grown up with guys over these 40 plus years that were adrenaline junkies or applause junkies and needed to live out of a suitcase and didn’t know a life outside of the stage,” he continued. “For me personally, I like it. No, I love it. I’m very good at it, but I also have a life.”

Bon Jovi concluded by highlighting the importance of his personal relationships and interests outside of music.

“You know, I have a wife. I have four kids. I have a grandchild. I have other interests. I can be by myself and read a book. I sort of like myself enough to go, it’s cool.”

Bon Jovi’s comeback marks a significant milestone after years of health challenges that threatened to end his legendary career. In 2022, the rock icon underwent major vocal cord surgery that was critical to saving his voice from career-ending damage, Fox News reported. The procedure, known as medialization thyroplasty, involved an implant to rebuild his weakened vocal cord, which had been described as “dying” due to a serious vocal condition.

The recovery process has been extensive and carefully managed. Months of intensive vocal training and retraining were required to restore his ability to perform at the level fans expect, Ultimate Classic Rock noted. Rather than rushing back to full touring, the artist took a measured approach to his return. He recognized that progressing to sustained high-energy shows required time and patience.

In June 2025, Bon Jovi took his first significant step back to performing with an exclusive, intimate comeback concert event in Nashville from June 13 to 15. AXS detailed this luxurious fan experience, which was designed with limited access and included three days and two nights at the JW Marriott in Nashville. This carefully orchestrated event allowed him to test his restored vocal abilities in a controlled environment.

Building on this success, Bon Jovi has announced his major comeback tour, called the Forever Tour, scheduled to begin in July 2026. APP.com revealed that the tour will kick off with four shows at Madison Square Garden in New York. It will continue with European dates in Edinburgh, Dublin, and London, concluding at Wembley Stadium in September 2026. This marks Bon Jovi’s first full international tour since his 2022 surgery.

Additionally, Bon Jovi’s official website announced the release of Forever (Legendary Edition) in October 2025. This reimagined album features collaborations that showcase his restored vocal abilities and renewed energy. The release demonstrates Bon Jovi’s confidence in his recovered voice and his readiness to engage with fans through both recorded and live music.
