Former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon addressed fans’ expectations for new music in a recent interview with Blitzed Magazine.
“They’ll grab hold of you, and they won’t let go of that vision of you. You can’t live your life according to somebody else’s illusions about you. You just can’t,” Lydon stated.
“You’ve got to be true to yourself,” he continued. “For me, I’ve always declared I had a vast, vast record collection of music. I was influenced in many different directions, some of them completely contradictory to each other.”
“And so I’d say to those that were still expecting ‘Never Mind the Bollocks Part 2′ – f*ck off you idiot. What are you not listening to?” Lydon concluded.
Fans continue to request new material reminiscent of the Sex Pistols’ classic sound. Lydon remains firm in his stance against revisiting the past and continues to forge ahead with new projects.
Louder Sound reports that Lydon is extending his ‘I Could Be Wrong, I Could Be Right’ spoken word tour into 2025. The tour offers fans intimate evenings of conversation and reflection about his experiences with the Sex Pistols, Public Image Limited (PiL), and his life story.
His former Sex Pistols bandmates have chosen a different direction. Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook now tour the UK. They perform the iconic ‘Never Mind the Bollocks’ album with Frank Carter as their new frontman.
John Lydon’s official website confirms his active touring schedule with Public Image Limited (PiL) throughout 2025. The band has scheduled appearances across the UK and Europe. They will perform at major events including the Azkena Rock Festival in Spain.
These diverse projects showcase Lydon’s commitment to artistic growth. He maintains his uncompromising attitude toward fan expectations while pursuing new creative directions.
