In his latest post on Instagram, the Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens picked the next guitar hero. Stevens shared a video of a guitarist named Bastian Martinez, professionally known as Baxty. In the video, Baxty is seen playing a solo with speed licks. Stevens shared his thoughts about the piece with the following words:
“The next generation of incredible guitarists is here. This is Baxty. Obviously his technical ability is beyond mind blowing, but his compositions are great. He also knows when to slow down and emote. If he can put together a band and package his gifts into a vocal oriented format…he will be the next guitar hero.”
While some followers slammed Stevens for picking someone ‘exact’ to what Steve Vai or Yngwie Malmsteen does, some shared their appreciation towards Baxty and praised his guitar skills. Along with the praising comments of the followers, Baxty also thanked the rocker for sharing his video with such words.
Who Is Baxty?
Baxty is a guitarist who is known for his shredding skills. He has been sharing his guitar videos on YouTube and Instagram for years. Along with sharing his own music, he also covers many songs from different artists.
Baxty gained recognition from other guitar players around the world and, most recently, from the fellow rocker Stevens himself. Additionally, he was recognized by the Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess and recently shared a collaboration with Rudess in his YouTube channel.
Steve Steven’s Guitar Inspirations
Like a lot of guitarists, Steven, too, has some other guitar inspirations. Some of the rocker’s inspirations include Jimi Hendrix, Steve Howe, Jeff Beck, Eddie Van Halen, and Jimmy Page. Just like the way he referred to the guitarist, Stevens also pointed out his inspirations’ guitar skills and the uniqueness of their sounds. One even seemed to have sobered him up while he was drunk. Namely, it was Van Halen’s ‘Eruption.’
