John Lennon Never Hid The Truth, May Pang Shares

In a recent interview with Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz, May Pang, former personal assistant and lover of late Beatles member John Lennon, opened up about various aspects of her life, including her intimate relationship with the legendary musician. Sharing her side of the story and reflecting on the past, Pang revealed some interesting details about her time with Lennon, including his desire for people to know about their affair.

John Lennon and May Pang’s relationship began in 1973 when Lennon’s then-wife, Yoko Ono, suggested that he start seeing Pang. This period, often referred to as Lennon’s ‘Lost Weekend,’ lasted for 18 months, during which Lennon and Pang lived together in Los Angeles and New York. Despite being a controversial relationship at the time, it’s an important chapter in both Lennon’s and Pang’s lives.

In the recent interview, May dived more into the background of their story and explained that Lennon wanted people to know about their relationship. However, it took years for the public to truly understand the nature of their affair, and she herself wanted to share her story when the time was right. Addressing why she’s decided to open up now, Pang shared a quote that provided insight into Lennon’s thoughts on the matter and her own feelings about discussing their relationship.

She explained:

“You know, people ask me why I am doing it now. Well, first off, I can’t believe it’s fifty years. You know, it’s fifty years this year. When we started all of this with ‘Mind Games’ and all that – because we were in the middle of doing ‘Mind Games’ – I just laughed because I remember when John used to say to me, ‘Don’t worry. People will know about us,’ and I said, ‘Sure. Okay.’ I just pushed it to the side.

I didn’t realize that he also meant it was going to take fifty years later to get to this spot, and I didn’t want to do it earlier. People had asked me about that, and they wanted to do it. ‘Oh, I’m making a movie on John. There’s this period you’re involved in,’ and it was a half-hearted ‘Uh, we’d like to put you in.’ Well, guess what? I don’t think so.

So, I’ve turned down people that want to interview me because I know what’s going to happen. So, I didn’t want to do any of this. It’s been a long time, and if anybody’s going to tell the story, it’s going to be coming from me.”

May Pang’s recent interview shed light on her relationship with John Lennon, a part of both their lives that remained hidden for years. As Pang herself explained, she wanted to share her story on her own terms, ensuring that the truth would be told from her perspective. With the passage of time, it’s now possible to gain a more complete understanding of John Lennon’s life and the people who were a part of it, like May Pang.
