John Fogerty expressed his shock and disappointment after being unexpectedly dropped from the lineup of Country Fest Queensland, sharing his feelings in recent posts on X.
Fogerty recently announced to his fans that his highly anticipated performance at Country Fest Queensland had been canceled. The musician was looking forward to celebrating with his Australian fans, especially as this show was meant to be his sole appearance in Australia for the year. He clarified in his X post that the cancellation was not due to any fault of his own, writing:
“I was ready to celebrate with you all for my one and only show this year in Australia when the Country Fest Queensland blindsided me yesterday by canceling my appearance. It was posted that I would not be appearing due to unforeseen circumstances. Well, I can tell you, my friends, I was not the reason for the ‘unforeseen circumstances.’ I was ready to come down there and excited to celebrate getting my songs back with all of you. Look for a further statement from me later today.”
A Message To Australian Fans
The rocker took to X with a separate video message directed at his Australian followers, expressing his disappointment and confusion over the festival’s decision. He stated:
“This is especially for my Australian fans. There’s a festival up in the northern part of Australia, and for some reason, they say I’m not playing there. But as far as I know, I’m ready, willing, and able to play it. It’s a big disappointment to me, what’s going on right now. A shock, actually, because I was really looking forward to playing this concert up in Queensland. I feel sorry for the fans who had looked forward to it and planned on it. Me too! I don’t know what to say. Sometimes, things get complicated beyond my grasp, anyway. I know I’ll be in Australia soon, and I’ll play for you then.”
Festival’s Announcement And Ongoing Mystery Surrounding The Cancellation
Country Fest Queensland had initially excitedly announced Fogerty’s exclusive Australian performance on their Instagram earlier in the month. However, the festival’s tone changed abruptly on Tuesday when they informed ticket holders of Fogerty’s cancellation, promising a revised lineup soon and offering refunds to those who wished to withdraw their attendance due to the musician’s absence.
Fogerty and his representatives were informed of his removal from the lineup without any explanation being given, even as tickets continued to be sold under his name. The festival’s lack of communication and reasons for the cancellation have left both Fogerty and his fans in the dark. Country Fest Queensland has yet to respond to requests for comment on the situation.
