John Dolmayan Explains Why He Blocked Five Thousand People On Instagram

In an interview with Sona Oganesyan, System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan talked about how he blocked 5,000 people on Instagram. The musician said those people were disrespectful because of his tweets and posts supporting former US President Donald Trump.

John Dolmayan is best known for his time with his band System of a Down. After the band stagnated in 2006, he played for Scars on Broadway until they also disbanded. He is currently the drummer for the band Indicator while occasionally playing with System of a Down.

As you might know, Dolmayan was a loyal supporter of Donald Trump and his politics throughout the 2020 elections. Dolmayan became the target of aggressive reactions from the fans for his statements on the violent behavior of the protesters on his social media accounts, especially during the demonstrations against racism and police brutality.

When asked about his reaction to negative comments on social media in a recent interview, he stated that he blocked five thousand people on Instagram during the Trump-Biden election. He added that he doesn’t expect everyone to agree with him if done respectfully. Otherwise, he blocks people that are out of line.

Here is what John Dolmayan said about the negative feedback on social media:

“I’ve hovered around 250 thousand followers for probably, like, three years or four years. When we were in the middle of the Trump-versus-Biden debacle and attempting to figure out who would continue to lead this country, I lost a ton of followers every time I posted something that was either pro-Trump or my opinions one way or the other.

It wasn’t always that I agreed with Trump. Still, I agreed with the philosophy of making the United States our priority, making sure that our citizens were our priority, which is what pretty much every country, household, when you break it down to a household level, that’s what you’re concerned with the most.”

He added:

“Of course, you don’t want to hurt your neighbors; you want everybody to succeed and prosper, but if you’re not focused on your home, you’re not going to be able to help anybody else anyway. I would post something and instantly lose a thousand, two thousand people. I probably blocked five thousand people if they’re out of line.

I don’t mind somebody disagreeing with me. I like that, actually. Because sometimes you’ll get an opinion that will help you to reform yours, give you a different perspective. So that’s never been the issue, as long as it was done in a respectful manner. I try not to be disrespectful, so I won’t accept somebody that’s being disrespectful.”
