Mötley Crüe’s biographical film ‘The Dirt,’ based on the book of the same name, premiered on Netflix on March 22, 2019. As the former frontman of the band, John Corabi, performed by Anthony Vincent Valbiro, also appeared in ‘The Dirt.’ However, Corabi is not pleased with his portrayal in the film, as he shared during a new chat with Dawn Osborne of Total Rock.
“My biggest beef with the movie, and to be honest, I don’t really give a sh*t, it is only people ask me, ‘Did you like the movie?’ and I’m like, ‘No, not really,’” said Corabi, sharing that he wouldn’t have wanted to be a part of the film. “I just wish they would have left me out of it all together because if you blink, I’m in, I’m out. So, I sit there and go, ‘What is the point? Why would you put me in for twenty-eight seconds or whatever it was?’”
The singer continued by explaining that he was insulted by the scenes, which implied that they couldn’t get any gigs during his stint. John confessed, “The thing that bothered me the most, if you remember the movie, when they are walking on stage, they look like they are playing in high school gymnasiums.”
“It was again colored to make it really look like it was bad. I get it; I don’t really care one way or another, but I just kind of said, ‘Man, that was kind of lame,’” John Corabi added, referring to his initial reaction to the movie. He later stated, “The matter is we were playing ten thousand, fifteen thousand seat places, and we were only drawing maybe four or five, but it wasn’t a high school gymnasium to eight people.”
Thus, although John Corabi admitted that his tenure with Mötley Crüe was not that successful, he still doesn’t believe that the ticket sales were that bad. According to the rocker, the portrayal of that period in the film was slightly distorted. So, he would prefer to stay out of ‘The Dirt’ since it wouldn’t make a huge difference due to his brief appearance.
