John 5’s recent Instagram post stirred rumors of a Marilyn Manson reunion.
“Happy birthday,” the guitarist wrote in the caption of his post, along with some photos and videos from Manson’s birthday celebration.
In the comment section, some criticized John 5 for meeting Manson. The others talked about rumors of them getting back together. A fan wrote, “Wooow this is nostalgic. John 5 return to marilyn mansion???”
Another one said, “John you belong to Manson!! PLEASE GO BACK TO HIM!!” One other person commented, “Would be amazing if you joined him on the next tour.”
“Very disappointed John, thought you might’ve reevaluated this friendship/relationship,” another individual noted. One other person also criticized John 5, saying, “Never unfollowed so fast!”
John 5 joined Manson in 1999 after being asked by Manson to replace the previous guitarist. He performed with the band during the ‘Mechanical Animals’ tour and appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Last year, the rocker told That Fuzzing Rock Show about how Manson offered him the job. He stated, “Well, I had a meeting with Marilyn Manson and I was in a restaurant. It was so weird because I sat down at this restaurant and Manson had these CDs in his car, he had the David Lee Roth CD.”
He added, “I sat down with him and he goes, ‘I want you to join the band and your name’s going to be John 5, and I want to do everything with numbers,’ and like all this stuff. So it was like a whirlwind, I didn’t even audition, and I was like, ‘Okay.'”
John 5 shares some stories from his time with Manson from time to time. In November 2024, he sat down with This Is The Worst Podcast and shared a story about how the singer once got angry at him for embarrassing him in front of girls. They were joking around and scaring each other, and when John 5 scared Manson, the girls laughed. Manson got so mad that he broke mirrors in John’s room as revenge.
