John 5 recently addressed questions about Mötley Crüe’s future recording plans. He provided an update on the band’s potential new album in an interview with EON Music.

The guitarist was asked directly about the likelihood of new material from the legendary rock band. The band last released the single “Dogs of War” in 2024 after signing to Big Machine Records.

When asked “Is a new album from Motley Crue something we’re likely to see?”, John 5 responded with uncertainty about the band’s post-tour plans.

“I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen after the tour,” he said. “I don’t know what’s planned. I have no idea, but I just love being a part of it.”

The guitarist emphasized his commitment to the band while acknowledging his limited knowledge of future plans.

“So they just let me know what’s going to happen, but right now, there’s nothing planned, unfortunately,” he continued.

John 5’s uncertainty about future recording plans comes at a significant time for the band. They prepare for what could be a pivotal period in their career trajectory.

Ultimate Classic Rock reported that bassist Nikki Sixx recently revealed that the band’s contract ends after their 2026 U.S. tour. He mentioned “real time off” planned in 2027 to reassess directions. This contractual timeline adds context to John 5’s comments about the uncertain future beyond their current touring commitments.

The band is currently focused on their upcoming major tour celebration. Live Nation announced that Mötley Crüe revealed “The Return of the Carnival of Sins,” a massive 2026 North American tour celebrating two significant milestones: the 20th anniversary of their 2005-2006 Carnival of Sins tour and the band’s 45th anniversary.

This 33-date tour represents a major undertaking for the legendary rock band. This potentially explains why future recording plans remain undecided. WKOL noted that the band has signaled a possible touring break after their 2026 run. Nothing beyond 2026 has been officially decided regarding new tours, albums, or long-term plans.

The timing of these developments suggests that Mötley Crüe is approaching a natural transition point in their career. Major decisions about their future direction will need to be made following the conclusion of their anniversary celebrations and current contractual obligations.
