Joe Perry On Johnny Depp’s Win Over Amber Heard Lawsuit, ‘We Never Doubted’

Aerosmith’s Joe Perry posted a tweet to support his Hollywood Vampires bandmate and famous actor Johnny Depp after winning the defamation trial between him and his ex-wife and actress Amber Heard. The musician expressed his opinions about Depp’s long and challenging journey.
A short time ago, Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard due to her 2018 The Washington Post op-ed. In the article, Heard defined herself as a public figure against domestic violence and abuse as a victim; even though she didn’t name the perpetrator, it’s apparent that she was blaming Depp. Therefore, the trial occurred in Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia following the jury selection. For months, the plaintiff and defendant showed countless evidence and brought witnesses to convince the jury.
Depp’s side claimed that Heard was the abuser and person suffering from mental health disorders in this relationship. At the same time, Heard’s attorneys and herself stated that the actor was a violent ‘monster’ who was always under the effect of drugs and alcohol. The jury reached a verdict yesterday; Heard will pay approximately 15 million dollars after agreeing that Heard’s words harmed his reputation. After Depp’s lawyer’s previous statement, the actress will get $2 million.
After the verdict, Depp shared a statement on his Instagram account and said his life changed six years ago, and the jury gave his life back to him. He highlighted false and criminal allegations that ruined his life by adding that the truth will never perish.
The actor’s IG post read as follows:
“Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed. All in the blink of an eye.
False, very serious, and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me. It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond, and it had a seismic impact on my life and career.
Six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled. My decision to pursue this case, knowing very well the height of the legal hurdles that I would be facing and the inevitable worldwide spectacle in my life, was only made after considerable thought.
From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that.”
He added:
“I am and have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and the colossal support and kindness from around the world. I hope that my quest to have the truth be told will have helped others, men or women, who have found themselves in my situation, and that those supporting them never give up. I also hope that the position will now return to innocent until proven guilty, both within the courts and media.
I wish to acknowledge the noble work of the Judge, the jurors, the court staff, the Sheriffs who have sacrificed their own time to get to this point, and my diligent and unwavering legal team, who did an extraordinary job in helping me to share the truth.
The best is yet to come, and a new chapter has finally begun.
Veritas numquam perit.
Truth never perishes.“
Following his words, his bandmate Perry celebrated Depp’s victory as the person who believed his story without any doubt. The guitarist stated that he’s proud and delighted with the truth that came out eventually. In addition, Perry congratulated his fellow musician on getting his life back again after battling lawsuits and accusations for years.
Here’s what Perry wrote:
“Proud and happy for Johnny’s huge win today. We never doubted anything; we always knew the truth and that the truth would prevail. Congratulations on getting your life back today!”
