Jeff Scott Soto has shared his thoughts on the 2018 Queen biopic, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ and what bothered him about it.

In a new interview with 101 WRIF, the Sons Of Apollo discussed his favorite bands and mentioned Queen as one of his favorites. He was then asked what his thoughts were about the biopic. Although he made the host sure he loved it, there were a few things that bothered him. The singer said:

“I really enjoyed it. I liked the way that it turned out because I know they were dealing with a lot of different changes, a lot of directors, lead actors et cetera here and there. I was concerned that it would have what they were hoping it would have at the end and I think they really pulled it off.”

Soto was not happy about a few things. Still, he appreciated the work the crew and Queen put into the movie:

“The only thing that bothered me about it there were a few timeline issues, where there’s certain parts of the studio, where they’re talking about Live-Aid or a certain song or a certain album. Freddie’s character didn’t look that way during that time. But as a movie, you have two hours to basically cover 40 years of a career and people. It’s impossible to get everything exactly the way it’s supposed to be unless it’s a documentary. And the movie’s not a documentary, so it works in that sense and people who are not die-hards. I know so many details and bits that [I go], ‘Oh wait, that’s not how it went down.’ For others, I think it was incredible. I think it turned out really well.”

Soto Almost Became The New Queen Singer

Queen was left without a lead singer after the passing of Freddie Mercury. Years later, the band welcomed Adam Lambert as their newest member in 2012. But it seems there was another name in the talks as a potential lead singer.

During an earlier interview, Soto said that he was in discussions to become the new Queen frontman before Adam Lambert joined. He also revealed why it didn’t work out:

“There were discussions, let’s just put it this way. There was a short little window of time before Adam that there was a discussion and it didn’t get past that. So I’ll just leave it at that. I value my friendship and everything that I have with those guys, so I’m not gonna say anything to pat myself on the back just for people to go, ‘Hey, you should have…’ It’s not necessary. But to answer your question, and to be honest and truthful about it, yes, there were inklings at one point, and it just didn’t turn into anything.”
